WHAT IS CLUB 1909?

Club 1909 is the official points program and online portal for Canadiens fans. As a member of the program you can earn points towards amazing rewards, including one of a kind experiences and unique items and memorabilia. Club 1909 membership will also simplify your Habs related transactions, such as buying tickets for a game at the Bell Centre.

HOW DOES THE PROGRAM WORK?

The program is free to join as a digital member. Simply sign up and you will receive your ecard that can be displayed on your phone. You can “scan” your card at points of sale or elsewhere that the card is accepted and earn Club 1909 points. You can also join as a Premium member for a minimal price of $29.99. As a Premium member you will have additional benefits such as receiving an official Club 1909 RFID card with an embedded piece of game-worn Canadiens jersey. Also, Premium members benefit from having all the points they earn automatically doubled. All points earned can then be redeemed for great rewards.

What is the “Name in the Ice” I’ve seen in the promotion for Club 1909 all about?

With Club 1909 we will allow Canadiens fans, no matter where they are in the world, to become part of the in-game experience with their fellow Habs faithful. Every fan who registers for Club 1909 will automatically have their name printed and frozen into the Bell Centre ice when the team/arena schedule permits (exact timing to be determined – the ice will need to be broken down and built back up to allow the entry of names).

Why did the Montreal Canadiens launch Club 1909?

We created Club 1909 to provide more value to all our fans. We want to show our appreciation for having the best fans in hockey and rewarding them for what they already do.

What will Club 1909 cost me?

The program is free to join as a Digital member. Premium membership is a one-time cost of $29.99, for which you will receive the official Club 1909 RFID card with embedded piece of game-worn jersey as well as enjoying double the points for every earn opportunity.

CAN ANYONE JOIN CLUB 1909 OR DO I NEED TO BE A SEASON TICKET HOLDER?

Anyone is eligible to join Club 1909. You can either join as a Digital member for free or as a Premium member for $29.99. With a Club 1909 Premium membership you will receive the official Club 1909 RFID card with an embedded piece of authentic game-worn jersey. You also receive additional benefits such as doubling the points you earn.

HOW OLD DO I NEED TO BE TO JOIN?

You need to be 13 years or older to join Club 1909.

AS A SEASON TICKET HOLDER, CAN I OPT OUT OF CLUB 1909?

Program enrollment is automatic for season ticket holders, but if you wish to not participate in the program or redeem your points for rewards, you do not need to engage with the program.

DO I NEED A SMARTPHONE OR COMPUTER TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PROGRAM?

As a Club 1909 member you will require a smartphone and/or computer to access the program as well as earn points (ex. points for social media interactions, points for daily codes).

CAN I EARN POINTS FOR PARKING AT THE BELL CENTRE?

No. Points cannot be earned for parking at the Bell Centre at this time.

I am receveiving Club 1909 communications in the wrong language. How can I change it?

If you would like to change your language of communication, please write to info@club1909.com with your name, member ID, and email address associated with your account, and ask to receive future communications in your preferred language. It will be corrected in time for the next round of messages.

HOW DO I ACTIVATE MY PREMIUM MEMBERSHIP CARD?

Your Club 1909 Membership card is delivered to you pre-activated prior to being shipped. Visit the Web portal to complete your profile and connect your social media accounts and earn points by doing so.

WHAT IF MY CLUB 1909 PREMIUM CARD IS DAMAGED, LOST OR STOLEN?

A Club 1909 card can be replaced at a cost of $10.00. Please contact our customer service at 1 877 GO FANS GO (1 877-463-2674) or info@club1909.com as soon as possible after a card is lost or stolen.

IS THE CLUB 1909 CARD SECURE?

Yes. All data on the Club 1909 Card is encrypted and conforms with industry data security best practices. However, just like a credit card or driver’s license, you should contact us as soon as possible after a card is lost or stolen.

IS THAT A REAL PIECE OF GAME-WORN JERSEY EMBEDDED IN THE CARD?

Yes. The jersey is game-worn, authentic and genuine. This is a first; never before has a piece of game-worn jersey been embedded in an active RFID card.

IS THERE A WAY TO TELL WHICH PLAYER’S JERSEY IS FEATURED IN MY CARD?

With the manufacturing process of the cards currently in place, no. Game-worn jerseys are sourced by the Canadiens to our card partner and then broken down into the segments you see in the cards. Our organizational view is that the most important thing forever remains the jersey itself, not the name on the back.

HOW DO I EARN POINTS?

Points are earned through activities that you as a fan already do, like interacting on social media, attending games or purchasing Habs gear. Learn more in the Points section.

CAN I EARN POINTS FOR TICKET PURCHASES?

Yes. Points will be awarded for ticket purchases, without consideration for ticket cost.

WHAT CAN I DO WITH MY POINTS?

Points can be redeemed via the Club 1909 Rewards Portal for two types of items: marketplace items, which have fixed-point prices, and auction items.

HOW DO I EARN POINTS FOR WATCHING OR LISTENING TO GAMES?

At one or more points during each TV and Radio broadcast (participating networks) a code will be featured. Log into the Club 1909 Portal, find the box labelled “Code Entry” on the home page, and enter the code to collect your points.

There is an error in my points calculation, what do I do?

Can I purchase points?

The only way to currently get points is to earn them through fan activities.

Can I transfer points between accounts?

No. Points cannot be transferred between accounts.

What are the rewards?

There are a range of rewards, including unique merchandise, memorabilia and collectibles. There are also exclusive “money- can’t-buy” experiences, VIP treatment and unique benefits. A detailed catalog of rewards is available on the Club 1909 Portal and will be updated continuously as new rewards are added.

How do I get the rewards?

Rewards may be acquired through the Club 1909 Portal. Some rewards will be offered in the Club 1909 marketplace for a fixed number of points, while others will be auctioned and awarded to the highest bidder. Fulfillment or delivery of the actual reward will depend on the nature of the item in question.

Can I suggest a potential reward?

How frequently do auctions run?

Auctions will run at various times throughout the year. In general, auctions will each last for seven days, although some may be longer or shorter depending on the nature of the item.

If I don’t win an auction, do I lose the points I bid?

No. Only the auction winner has his or her points balance debited at the completion of the auction.

Do points expire?

Yes. Points expire on the 15th of August of each year. However, the points accumulated during a season will serve to earn tier bonus points toward the next season. So the more points you earn, the bigger the number of bonus points you receive going into the following year.

WHAT IS GAMING OR SPAMMING?

We promote authentic interaction and gaming or spamming the system may result in no points being awarded, removal of points and tokens, removal from a promotion, removal of a redeemed store item or elimination of your profile from the program.

If an account with the purpose of gaming or spamming the system is found, it will be reviewed to determine the appropriate outcome. Gaming and spamming the system may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Opening up a fake social media account: Your account may be classified as fake if the social media account is opened within one month of registering for this program. Social media accounts that have less than 25 followers or friends, that only post about program information and are not used for interacting with friends or other businesses and social media accounts without avatars, names or descriptions all can be considered fake accounts. In addition, an account that only follows the approved program social media accounts or only follows other major outlets, entertainers and other fake accounts will also be reviewed. Please use your official accounts that you use to engage with your friends, family and associates in order to avoid removal.

  • Rapid-fire engagement: Your account may be flagged as spamming or gaming the system if the account likes multiple Facebook posts within the time span of a few minutes, re-tweets frequently, tweets the same message or hashtag, posts identical messages with different hashtags or checks in to multiple locations within a short period of time.

  • Posting items with the intent to game the system or that have no relevance to the program: For example, sending a tweet that only has multiple hashtags or mentions multiple users, posting irrelevant photos, posting the same photo multiple times, posting comments such as “go”, “nice”, “wow”, “ha” or other one-worded comments may be considered spamming or gaming the system.

Are there special items to consider when using Facebook?

Yes. You must connect your Facebook account to the program in order to earn points for approved Facebook activities.

Facebook privacy settings. If your privacy settings are locked down we may not be able to give you credit for your activity. In your ‘APP’ setting in your Facebook profile please make sure the ‘’App Visibility’’ is set to ‘Public’ or ‘Friends’. Any other settings like ‘Only Me’, ‘Custom’ or ‘Friends of Friends’ may result in you not receiving points. Please also make sure the ‘APP’ shows we can access posts in your News Feed.

A Facebook Timeline visit must be initiated from the Activities feed by clicking on the approved Facebook image/link on each Facebook Tile. You will not get credit by visiting the Facebook page unless you come to the site and click on one of the approved Facebook tiles.

Facebook Post Likes and Comments can be initiated from Facebook's mobile app or through Facebook.com by liking or commenting on an approved page and post.

If you change your email or password on your Facebook page you will need to disconnect and reconnect the Facebook Application in your ‘Settings’ or your ‘Dashboard’. You may also need to disconnect and reconnect if you have not used your account in over a month as the Facebook token may expire.

Gaming or Spamming. A Facebook account that was recently opened, has less than 25 friends, has no profile picture, does not have the about section filled out, has no cover image or only posts about this program or other rewards programs in an effort to game the system to earn points may be removed from the program. Please only use your official Facebook page you use to interact with your friends on a regular basis.
